Members will also be exhibiting wood carvings and ceramics.
The Summer Exhibition is going to be the jewel in our crown, and in many cases will be our first opportunity to meet our members in over a year, as well as to offer our work to the general public.
Newton’s Place is a brand new venue for Newton Abbot Art Group and we are very excited to be the first group to hold an exhibition there. Please do come along and experience this State of the Art Museum and the lovely old restored church.
There is a lift up to our exhibition. Many original paintings, wood carving, ceramics, prints and cards will be for sale during the exhibition which will be open from 10.00am to 4.00pm from Friday, 23rd July to Saturday, 31st July (closed on Sunday 25th July). There will be something for everyone.
Welcome to Newton Abbot Art Group
Formed on 1973, NAAG is a friendly local art club whose aim is to support and encourage
individual development in the practice of art in a variety of media.
Everyone is welcome to join our group, irrespective of age, ability and experience. Whether
you are a complete beginner, an improver or have many years of practice, there are always
new and exciting challenges in the world of art.
Our weekly studio sessions normally held on Thursday afternoons and Friday mornings throughout the year, provide an opportunity to get together and practice art, being both social and learning occasions. Sadly, because of the Covid19 virus, these meetings have been suspended until the current restrictions have been lifted. However, the situation is constantly under review and we remain hopeful that our studio sessions may restart in the Spring, subject to Government guidelines. Our popular all-day Saturday workshops will also begin again, once circumstances allow.
During the summer and autumn months, we have been holding regular outdoor sketching
days and photographic walks, whilst once again, complying with social distancing
regulations. These have now been discontinued but it is hoped that they too, will
recommence once the weather allows.
We usually hold at least one Art Exhibition a year and whilst there has been none during the
pandemic, we hope that these will resume when a greater degree of normality returns to
To maintain regular involvement of all our members, we have been mailing out a newsletter
on a regular basis, giving updates of NAAG news, monthly art challenges, quizzes and items
of general interest. We are also on facebook which offers more interaction between
members and the opportunity to display their artwork.
You can explore our website to find out more about our group and the opportunities
offered, and to view some of the excellent work produced by our members.
Please visit our membership page which includes details of our fees if you are interested in
joining us now or in the future. When our regular sessions return, we anticipate that there
will be limited availability for both the Thursday and Friday meetings.
Meanwhile, stay safe and enjoy your art.
